Browsing the site collects nothing about you personally. There is no tracking pixel, no advertising network, and no cookie asking for consent, because there is nothing to consent to. Everything below is an action you take deliberately.

Creating an account. Your email, a password we store only as a scrypt hash and can never read back, your name if you give one, and whether you play or hire.

Proving you own a gamertag. The username you claim and, once proven, the rank we read from that platform's public API. Proving it means putting a token we generate onto your public profile there, which is visible to anyone until you remove it.

Applying to a job. Your name and email, and whatever else you choose to add: in-game handle, game, rank, links, and your message. Everything except name and email is optional and blank unless you fill it in.

Saving a profile. Your handle and email, your game and rank, and optionally your name, the kind of work you want, your experience level, where you are, links, and anything you list under accomplishments.

Posting a job. The role details, your company name, and the email address applications should go to.

Messaging a player. Your name, email, optionally your company, and your message.

Joining a side quest. Your name and email, so whoever is running it can reach you.

Reporting a profile. The reason and any detail you add. We do not ask who you are, and we do not record it.

Upvoting. A random id is generated and kept in your own browser so the same browser cannot vote twice. It is not linked to your name, your email, or anything else. Clearing your browser storage resets it.

Applications go to the company that posted the role. That is the entire point of sending one. We do not sell your details, share them with recruiters you did not apply to, or add applicants to a mailing list.

Messages to a player go to that player, through us. Whoever you message is not handed your email address until they choose to reply.

There is no mailing list. We do not have one, and nothing on this site signs you up for one.

Everything is stored in a Neon database, and the site runs on Vercel. Both process data on our behalf and have their own privacy terms.

If you verify a Chess.com rank, your Chess.com username is sent to Chess.com's public API to read your public rating. Nothing else is sent, and we do not receive anything private about your account.

We use Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not build a profile of you or follow you to other sites. It tells us how many people visited a page and which link brought them, in aggregate. It cannot tell us who you are.

No advertising or tracking cookies, ever. The only cookies here are sign-in cookies: one when you sign in to your account, and one for the private admin page the site operator uses. Both exist to keep you signed in and nothing else. Your theme choice and your saved players are stored in your own browser and never sent anywhere.

Your IP address is briefly held in memory to limit how many times the same source can submit a form in a minute. It is not written to the database and not attached to your application. Vercel keeps standard server logs, as any host does.

Applications are kept while the role is open and for a reasonable period after, so an employer can come back to a shortlist. Profiles are kept until you ask us to remove yours. Messages, quest signups, and reports are kept while they are still useful to the person on the other end. Ask us to delete any of it sooner and we will.

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to object to processing or to complain to a data protection regulator. We will not charge you or make it difficult.

One limit worth being straight about: once an application has reached the company that posted the role, their copy is theirs. We can delete ours, and we will, but you would need to ask them about theirs.

This is a job site, so it is meant for people old enough to work. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
